The University of Baghdad Council convened its nineteenth session under the chairmanship of President Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaybi, with the participation of council members, to deliberate on strategic files related to the development of the university’s educational, research, and service infrastructure.

The council approved the project to establish a fully integrated medical university city on University of Baghdad lands in the Al-Rafail area of Al-Amiriya. Designed as an advanced academic and healthcare hub, the city will encompass medical colleges, health sciences programs, teaching hospitals, and specialized research and treatment centers. This initiative is intended to strengthen the university’s capacity in medical education, scientific research, and community service.

The council emphasized that the project represents one of the university’s major strategic undertakings, aligned with its future plans to enhance the environment of medical education, support clinical training, and provide comprehensive infrastructure that elevates the quality of healthcare and educational services in Iraq.
