The University of Baghdad hosted the annual conference organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the theme “Knowledge Economy: Entrepreneurial Universities and a Sustainable Economy.” The event was attended by Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiya, President of the University of Baghdad, along with several presidents of public and private universities.

The conference aimed to establish partnerships between academic institutions and the labor market, thereby reducing the gap between higher education outputs and the actual needs of national institutions. It focused on activating innovation centers, reviewing progress in industrial advisory councils, and developing science and technology parks within Iraqi universities. The conference also highlighted pioneering initiatives and success stories of faculty members and students.

In his remarks, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad emphasized that this conference represents a fundamental step in charting a roadmap for national integration. He noted that the Ministry seeks to transform universities from traditional educational institutions into fourth-generation entrepreneurial universities that significantly contribute to supporting the national economy through innovation and genuine partnerships with both the public and private sectors.

This activity contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4 (Quality education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
