As part of ongoing efforts to advance scientific development and strengthen the infrastructure of academic institutions, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad, conducted a field visit to the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies. He was received by the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, along with heads of scientific departments and administrative unit officials.
During the visit, Dr. Ansaf reviewed the preliminary architectural designs for the institute’s building expansion project. The initiative aims to enhance the academic environment by establishing advanced laboratories and modern lecture halls that accommodate academic growth and the increasing number of students, in alignment with the university’s continuous modernization and development strategy.
The Dean accompanied the University President on a tour of several scientific laboratories, where he expressed admiration for the advanced research equipment and praised the administration’s efforts in creating a comprehensive scientific environment. This setup enables students to conduct their research within the institute without the need to rely on external laboratories.
Dr. Ansaf emphasized the importance of these measures in elevating the quality of higher education and scientific research. He noted that the university prioritizes support for ambitious academic projects that contribute to strengthening its standing both locally and internationally.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, which advocates for quality education, and Goal 11, which promotes sustainable cities and communities.
