Under the leadership of Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad, and with the participation of several college deans and faculty members, the 9th International Scientific Conference on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage was held in the holy city of Karbala under the theme: “The Arbaeen Pilgrimage: Embodiment of Spiritual Values and Scientific Progress.”
The conference was organized in collaboration between the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, the University of Baghdad, and the Academic Scientific Council for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage. It was attended by the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i, along with a group of scholars and researchers from Iraq and abroad.
In his opening speech, the President of the University of Baghdad emphasized that “Iraqi universities, foremost among them the University of Baghdad, bear a scientific and moral responsibility to leverage major religious occasions such as the Arbaeen Pilgrimage to support the Sustainable Development Goals through scientific research and the provision of practical solutions to societal challenges.”
The conference witnessed active participation from University of Baghdad faculty, who presented scholarly papers addressing a variety of themes. The sessions also included discussions on mechanisms for publishing distinguished research in peer-reviewed journals, along with recommendations for enhancing collaboration between academic and religious institutions in serving the community.
It is worth noting that the University of Baghdad had previously hosted a series of preparatory meetings for the conference and organized awareness seminars across its various colleges, reaffirming its commitment to supporting this significant academic and religious event.
