The Women’s Affairs Division at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Center for Strategic and International Studies and with the participation of the General Secretariat of the University Council, organized a scientific lecture entitled “The Role of Data and Statistics in Enhancing Efforts to Advance the Status of Women”, delivered by Dr. Rana Mouloud Shakir.

The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of data and statistics as essential tools for advancing the status of working Iraqi women, by directing efforts towards empowering them in their constitutional and administrative work-related rights, developing their capacities and skills, and documenting their achievements in the labor market. The speaker explained that data and statistics whether general or specialized provide accurate indicators on the role of women in enhancing productivity and supporting the path of sustainable development.

The recommendations emphasized the need to adopt specialized staff in digital and statistical documentation, empower women with skills in data management and analysis through specialized training courses, and link national achievements within state institutions to strategic indicators and plans related to women’s affairs.

This activity contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
