A delegation from the University of Baghdad participated in the international training course for student activity directors, organized by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with Peoples’ Friendship University in the Russian Federation. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance international cooperation and develop university staff capacities.

Representing the University of Baghdad in the course were Dr. Ali Sadiq Thiyab, Director of the Department of Student Activities; Dr. Thamer Hammadi, Assistant Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences; and Mr. Ali Abdullah Hazaa, representative of the University Media Division.

The course, which brought together over 50 directors and representatives of student activity departments from various Iraqi universities, featured both theoretical and practical lectures aimed at enhancing participants’ skills in organizing university sports tournaments and festivals, as well as developing administrative and technical competencies. The sessions were delivered by a distinguished group of international experts in student activities and university sports event management.

This participation aligns with the University of Baghdad’s efforts to expand expertise, foster knowledge exchange, and improve institutional performance in ways that positively impact students and extracurricular programs. It also supports the university’s mission to promote leadership, cultural, and athletic skills.

The initiative contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal 17 Partnerships for the Goals.
