The French government, represented by the French Ministry of Culture, awarded Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Chevalier (Knight) medal of the French Order of Arts and Letters (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres).

Patrick Durel, the French Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, presented the medal to Dr. Laith in a ceremony held at the ambassador’s residence in Baghdad, based on a decree issued by the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. The medal is one of the highest honors awarded by France to individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of art, literature, and history.

This prestigious French medal crowns Dr. Laith’s cultural efforts in building bridges of cultural communication and highlights his role in strengthening Iraqi–French relations. The award was granted in recognition of his dedication to Iraqi heritage and his contributions to enhancing cultural relations between Iraq and France through scientific and cultural project initiatives that helped expand cooperation between the two countries.

This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goal.
