The University of Baghdad has taken a new step in advancing its international academic cooperation, following the approval of a joint partnership with Philipps University of Marburg in Germany under the Erasmus+ programme for 2026. This agreement opens broader horizons for academic and scientific exchange and the development of international partnerships, under the coordination and follow-up of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations at the University’s Presidency.
President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Al-Zughaibi, affirmed that this achievement reflects the University’s growing presence in European cooperation programmes and embodies its orientation toward building effective international partnerships that provide students and faculty members with valuable opportunities for learning, training, and the exchange of expertise with prestigious universities worldwide.
The cooperation includes the exchange of students, faculty, and staff between the two universities, in accordance with transparent procedures that ensure academic merit and equal opportunity, with recognition of completed courses and academic units. This will enhance the University of Baghdad’s presence within the European and international higher education space.
This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, which calls for quality education through the provision of learning opportunities, as well as Goal 17, which pertains to partnerships for achieving the goals.
