Annual "Arts for Culture and Arts" Festival at the College of Arts

Music performances, visual art exhibits, and poetry readings filled the College of Arts this week as students showcased their creative talents at the college’s annual cultural festival.

The Student Activities Division at the University of Baghdad’s College of Arts held the event, titled “Arts for Culture and Arts Festival,” at Al-Idrisi Hall, with faculty, students, and members of the public interested in culture and the arts in attendance.

The festival aimed to support cultural activity on campus and nurture students’ creative talents by offering an interactive space to refine their skills and build teamwork and institutional belonging. Events included musical performances, visual art exhibitions, poetry and literary readings, and open creative segments blending art and thought, reflecting the college’s culture of diversity.

The festival also honored outstanding students active in academic, athletic, artistic, and cultural activities. Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs Prof. Dr. Munzir Ali Abdul-Malik and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Abboud Al-Muhammadawi presented the honors in recognition of the students’ contributions to campus life.

The festival is part of a broader series of activities aimed at developing students academically and culturally, and at fostering a university environment that encourages creativity — in line with the university’s mission of preparing a generation equipped with the tools of expression and knowledge. Organizers said they hope the annual event will remain a highlight of student activities and a platform supporting culture and the arts on campus.

The activity supports two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4 (quality education) and Goal 17 (partnerships for the goals).
