The Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, received Mr. Abbas Imran Al-Zubaidi, Director General of the Planning and Follow-up Department at the Ministry of Transport. This meeting was held to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry and the College of Engineering, explore avenues for developing graduate studies, and foster new opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
During the meeting, several key topics were discussed, including enhancing partnerships between the university and the Ministry in the fields of postgraduate studies and applied research, exchanging expertise to support strategic plans aimed at developing the transport sector and infrastructure, and the possibility of providing training and educational opportunities for students in relevant disciplines.
Dr. Abdul Majeed emphasized the college’s commitment to aligning with the needs of the labor market and preparing qualified national cadres capable of contributing to the college’s vision and promoting constructive cooperation in the service of sustainable development goals.
The representative of the Ministry of Transport expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and praised the pioneering role of the College of Engineering in preparing national talents. He affirmed the Ministry’s full readiness to support collaboration with the college in academic and research domains, especially regarding major transportation projects and maritime planning. This visit aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance cooperation between academic institutions and government bodies, and to establish effective partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable development.
This meeting supports the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
