The dormitory departments at the University of Baghdad organized an awareness seminar entitled “Theft and Its Psychological Dimensions and Societal Impacts” at the Jadriya complex. The seminar was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Maryam Abdul Rahman Hashim, Head of the Student Follow-up Unit, and Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Qasim, with the attendance of a number of female students.

The seminar addressed the concept of theft, its psychological effects on both the individual and society, its causes, and methods of treatment. Theft was described as a behavior that negatively influences people’s lives and contributes to the decline of moral values.

The seminar further recommended intensifying awareness efforts within educational institutions regarding the dangers of this phenomenon, while emphasizing the role of the family in instilling societal values and respect for the rights of others.

This seminar also aligns with one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 16, which calls for peace, justice, and strong institutions.
