Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad participated in the Fifth Baghdad International Water Conference, presenting a collection of purposeful and in-depth research papers focused on one of today’s most pressing environmental issues—the importance of addressing water pollution. The event saw the participation of an elite group of experts, researchers, and academics specializing in water and environmental affairs from Iraq and abroad.

The college’s involvement stood out for its distinguished academic presence, featuring contributions from faculty members: Prof. Dr. Alaa Kareem Mohammed, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Kazem Saber, Lecturer Israa Muzahim, and Engineer Farah Sameer Mohammed. The team delivered scientific papers showcasing the latest approaches and technologies for water pollution treatment, offering practical insights aligned with Iraq’s strategy for water security and sustainable resource management.

This participation reflects the college’s prominent academic standing and its vital role in advancing applied scientific research and crafting viable solutions for the nation’s environmental challenges—making this event a notable milestone in the college’s record of academic achievements.

This initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
