Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi, Assistant President of Baghdad University for Administrative Affairs, met with Major General Jassim Yahya Al-Zubaidi, representative of the Prime Minister’s Office, to discuss the mechanism for supporting the university’s infrastructure development project as part of the government’s strategic national initiatives.
During the meeting, Baghdad University presented a comprehensive vision aimed at modernizing its facilities and enhancing its urban surroundings to align with contemporary advancements in higher education environments. The discussions covered several key issues, including the formulation of a service plan in collaboration with municipal departments, the Ministry of Electricity, and the General Traffic Directorate.
The plan includes the installation of modern traffic guidance signs within the university, the development of main entrances to reflect the institution’s prestigious academic identity, as well as the rehabilitation and expansion of campus gardens to create a sustainable educational and aesthetic environment. Additionally, new parking facilities will be constructed to accommodate the growing number of students and staff.
The representative of the Prime Minister’s Office expressed full support for these proposals, affirming that direct assistance would be provided to implement the plans. This support is expected to bolster Baghdad University’s standing as the largest educational institution in Iraq and enable it to play a leading role in national development.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
