As part of efforts to support sober scientific research, enhance international academic presence, and improve the ranking of the Higher Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad in global classifications, Assistant Professor Dr. Hakim Hammoud Faleh, a faculty member at the institute, has published a research paper titled: “A Financial Examination of the Predicting of Fluctuations in the Price of Oil Using VECM and GARCH Models” in the journal Industrial Engineering & Management Systems—an internationally recognized journal in South Korea, indexed in the Scopus database, and classified under the Q2 global ranking.

The research focuses on the financial aspects of analyzing oil price fluctuations, given their direct impact on the preparation of general budgets, government revenue projections, and financial analysis of companies operating in the energy sector. It also examines how mathematical models can be utilized to support accounting and financial decision-making and develop precise forecasting methods for assessing risks associated with oil markets.

This achievement aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes quality education, as well as Goal 17, which advocates for partnerships in achieving sustainable development objectives.
