The College of Media at the University of Baghdad hosted a high-level coordination meeting that brought together key government, academic, and media figures to discuss media preparations for the “Baghdad: Arab Capital of Tourism 2025” conference—one of the most anticipated national events.
Participants included Dr. Haider Al-Saadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Head of the National Committee for Awareness and Social Guidance; Professor Dr. Ammar Tahir, Dean of the College of Media and Chair of the Committee of Media Deans in Iraq; Professor Dr. Musa Jaafar Radi, Director of Development at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; as well as representatives from the Media and Communications Authority, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, and Baghdad University’s media department. Also present were the Head of the Radio and Television Department at the College of Media and several members of the college’s media team.
The meeting focused on strategies for comprehensive media coverage of the conference, coordinating efforts with Iraqi and Arab media outlets and television networks, and refining promotional campaign mechanisms to ensure broad public and regional engagement.
Dr. Al-Saadi emphasized “the importance of collaboration between governmental and academic institutions to serve major national projects,” stating that “media serves as the backbone of national discourse” and highlighting the necessity of a unified effort to showcase a positive image of Baghdad. He urged stakeholders to strengthen media messaging that reflects Iraq’s cultural and tourism identity.
Professor Dr. Ammar Tahir praised the fruitful cooperation among the involved parties, noting that “the College of Media remains committed to playing a vital role in the conference’s comprehensive media strategy.”
