The Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, has been included in the QS World Rankings, making it the only department in Iraq to receive this recognition in the field of chemical engineering.
This achievement reflects the department’s commitment to providing high-quality education, advancing scientific research, and fostering academic partnerships, in addition to having a distinguished faculty with outstanding qualifications.
The QS World Rankings are based on rigorous criteria, including the analysis of more than 16.4 million academic papers and surveys of 151,000 academics and 100,000 employers, adding significant credibility and weight to the results.
Furthermore, the University of Baghdad has achieved an advanced global ranking in petroleum engineering, placing within the (51-100) category worldwide in the QS World Rankings for 2025, reinforcing its status as a leading academic institution.
This progress is the result of dedicated efforts by faculty and researchers, as well as continuous support for the development of academic programs and laboratories in accordance with the latest international standards. Such advancements contribute to graduating highly qualified engineers capable of supporting the industrial and energy sectors while promoting sustainable development.
This achievement aligns with one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 9, which advocates for industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
