The Journalism Department at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a special lecture featuring journalist Mufeed Al-Jazaeri, the editor-in-chief of Tariq Al-Shaab newspaper, as part of the department’s industrial council activities. The lecture was attended by a select group of PhD students and fourth-year students.

During the lecture, which was attended by the Head of the Journalism Department, Prof.Dr. Azhar Sabeeh Ghantab, Al-Jazaeri shared his extensive experience in journalism. He discussed the major challenges he faced throughout his career and emphasized the importance of adhering to journalistic ethics to ensure the integrity of media work and its positive impact on society.

Al-Jazaeri highlighted the need for journalists to be responsible to the public and to maintain professionalism when covering events. He also pointed out the challenges journalists face today due to technological advancements and the rise of digital media. Additionally, he encouraged students to adopt solid journalistic values and enhance their skills to keep up with the constantly evolving media landscape.

In turn, Prof.Dr. Azhar Sabeeh Ghantab expressed her gratitude to Mufeed Al-Jazaeri for enriching the students with his valuable experiences, emphasizing the Journalism Department’s commitment to hosting prominent media figures to strengthen the practical aspect of students’ education and connect them to the journalism job market.

This event is part of a series of activities organized by the Industrial Council in the Journalism Department, aimed at enhancing interaction between students and media experts, and enriching academic knowledge with real-world professional experiences.

This lecture aligns with one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve the goals.
