Baghdad University stole the spotlight and claimed the crown of creativity at the University Theater Festival hosted by Al-Kitab University in Kirkuk, amidst fierce competition that brought together 38 public and private universities from across the country.

Over the course of five intense days of theatrical performances, the Baghdad University delegation, composed of a select group of students from the Department of Theater at the College of Fine Arts, managed to impress both the audience and the jury with their professional performance and distinguished artistic message. This achievement culminated in securing first place and the Best Director award. Dr. Ali Sadiq, Director of Student Activities at Baghdad University, stated: “The results achieved this year in the artistic, sports, and cultural fields are unprecedented, confirming that Baghdad University is confidently moving toward leadership, thanks to the collective efforts of everyone involved.”

He added that this remarkable achievement was made possible by the continuous and substantial support from the university’s administration, represented by the President of the University, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, the academic and administrative assistants, as well as the efforts of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in Jadriya and Al-Waziriya, the College of Fine Arts, and all the university’s departments.

Mosul University came in second place, followed by Basra University in third, and Babel University in fourth. The event concluded with great success, reflecting the growing cultural movement in Iraqi universities. This activity also contributes to one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve the objectives.
