The Journal of the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad has achieved a new academic and scientific milestone by being included in the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), where it was classified in Quartile 2 (Q2) within the field of dentistry. This reflects the high quality of the research it publishes and its growing impact within the academic and scientific community.
The SCImago Journal Rank is one of the most prestigious global classifications for scientific journals. It is based on data from Scopus, a database maintained by Elsevier, and evaluates journals according to the number and quality of scientific citations, as well as their influence within their respective research fields. Notably, the journal had already been indexed in Scopus and was also classified as Q2 within that platform.
The journal’s inclusion in this ranking underscores the commitment of its contributing researchers to rigorous academic publishing standards, and highlights the editorial board’s ongoing efforts to raise the journal’s academic standing by attracting high-quality research and adhering to the best ethical and scientific practices in publishing.
This accomplishment enhances the College’s academic reputation both locally and internationally, opening new avenues for scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange with esteemed academic and research institutions worldwide. It also serves as an additional incentive for researchers from Iraq and beyond to publish their work in the journal, thereby supporting the advancement of dental research.
This achievement contributes to two of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 4 , Quality Education, and Goal 17 , Partnerships for the Goals.
