The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad held its 16th Scientific Conference, titled “Contributions of Islamic Sciences to Achieving the Strategies of the Government Program,” with the presence of the University President, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, the Dean of the College, Prof.Dr. Neima Dhahesh Farhan, along with a number of distinguished academic, religious, and scholarly figures. The event also featured participation from a select group of researchers and academics from various Iraqi universities, who presented research papers and studies addressing various aspects of the relationship between Islamic sciences and the government program.

The conference aimed to realize the vision of the government program by highlighting the contributions of the College of Islamic Sciences toward national goals and sustainable development objectives. It emphasized the importance of activating the role of Islamic sciences in serving society, the necessity of leveraging these sciences in designing governmental plans and programs, and the need to strengthen collaboration among religious, academic, and governmental institutions to achieve comprehensive development in the country.

In a speech, Prof.Dr. Bahaa stressed the importance of empowering religious and academic institutions to provide consultancy to the government across various fields, and to develop training programs aimed at preparing government personnel in the field of Islamic sciences. He also underscored the need for conducting research on the contributions of Islamic sciences to sustainable development, and for updating academic curricula at the College of Islamic Sciences to reflect the latest developments and societal needs.

The Dean of the College affirmed in his address that this conference calls for strengthening collaboration between religious and governmental institutions in the pursuit of national development goals. He highlighted the significance of the event in shedding light on the role of Islamic sciences in serving society and advancing sustainable development.

This conference fulfills one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals), by supporting academic initiatives that align with the University’s overarching mission to contribute to the implementation of the SDGs.
