The Laser Studies Institute for Postgraduate Studies, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Coordination at the Institute, organized a celebration marking the National Iraqi Women’s Day. The event featured various activities, including a speech by the Institute’s Dean, Professor Dr. Kazim Abdul Wahed Adem.

During his address, Dr. Adem praised the significant contributions of Iraqi women across all sectors—political, social, and administrative—emphasizing their remarkable presence despite the challenges they have faced.

Following that, Dr. Hana Sami Basheer, liaison officer for the Women Empowerment Unit at the Institute, delivered an academic lecture titled “The Social Status of Women in Mesopotamia.” She shed light on the active and diverse roles of women since ancient times and their continued impact to this day. The event was attended by a distinguished group of professors and staff members from various branches and units of the Institute.

This celebration also supports one of the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 5—which aims to achieve gender equality.
