The Office Affairs Department at the University of Baghdad launched a wide-ranging afforestation campaign in celebration of International Tree Planting Day, as part of ongoing efforts to expand green spaces and promote environmental awareness. The campaign, organized in collaboration with faculty members and students, included the active participation of the University President, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, along with his academic and administrative deputies. Hundreds of trees and plants were planted across various university campuses.

The campaign witnessed broad participation from both faculty and students, who expressed their enthusiasm for contributing to the improvement of the university environment. They emphasized the importance of tree planting in combating climate change and reducing pollution. On the sidelines of the event, the university also organized awareness seminars highlighting the environmental significance of afforestation and its role in maintaining ecological balance.

In his remarks during the event, Prof.Dr. Ansaf stated that this campaign aligns with the university’s strategic vision to enhance environmental awareness and improve air quality, thereby contributing to the creation of a healthy and sustainable campus environment.

This initiative is part of a series of environmental activities the university aims to implement to foster environmental consciousness among students and the academic community, while also contributing to sustainable development efforts in Iraq.
