The University of Baghdad has achieved a remarkable milestone by ranking as the top Iraqi university in the 2024-2025 URAP Global Ranking, which is based on rigorous academic standards.
The URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) is among the most comprehensive global systems for evaluating universities, covering approximately 3,000 educational institutions worldwide. It focuses on academic performance quality and relies on six main indicators: the number of published articles, their citation impact, total scientific production, international collaboration, impact measures, and articles and citations across various scientific disciplines.
URAP uses objective data from the Web of Science database and emphasizes the quality of research published in prestigious scientific journals. This ranking reflects the University of Baghdad’s commitment to advancing scientific research and fostering international academic cooperation, supporting its efforts to achieve excellence in higher education.
In this regard, the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, stated: “This ranking is the result of relentless efforts by our faculty members and researchers and is a testament to our commitment to quality and excellence in scientific research. We continually strive to enhance our research capabilities and strengthen our international partnerships to provide the best educational services to our students and contribute to building a better future for Iraq.”
This achievement comes amid increasing global competition in research and development, underscoring the University of Baghdad’s position as a leading academic institution in Iraq and the region.
This accomplishment aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which calls for quality education for sustainable development, as well as Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for achieving the goals, particularly the academic activities supported by the university in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
