Assist.Prof.Dr. Liza Rustam Yaqoub, a faculty member in the Department of Team Sports at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, represented Iraq at the General Assembly of the West Asian Wrestling Federation.
Assist.Prof.Dr. Yaqoub attended the electoral meeting as a member of the federation, which was held in Erbil with the participation of seven Arab countries, including Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Iran, Palestine, Syria, and Jordan.
Her election as a female representative in the federation underscores the growing role of women in advancing women’s sports and promoting gender inclusion in athletics.
This achievement aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by fostering international collaboration and promoting sports as a means of well-being and empowerment.
