The General Secretariat of the Central Library participated in the book fair held by the Abbasid Holy Shrine, where it presented a variety of different sources of information within the station “Read a book and buy it for free”. This participation comes within the framework of the library’s keenness to spread knowledge and promote the culture of reading and scientific research among visitors, by providing valuable scientific and cultural resources.
The exhibition was held within the activities of the cultural stations of the Kafeel boys, organized by the Abbasid Holy Shrine at the University of Baghdad, coinciding with the anniversary of the birth of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his release). This activity is part of the awaited five-day annual cultural festival of the tribe, with the participation of several sections of the shrine, such as intellectual and cultural affairs, Islamic and human knowledge affairs, the Al-Kafeel Museum for Precious Treasures and Manuscripts, and the Scientific Academy of the Holy Quran.
This event reflects the importance of cultural initiatives in supporting knowledge and developing awareness, as it provides visitors with the opportunity to learn about various sources that contribute to the promotion of thought and culture, within the framework of the efforts of the Abbasid Shrine and the Central Library to spread cultural and scientific awareness in society.
This participation achieves one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) IV and XI, which call for quality education as well as sustainable cities and communities.
