As part of its efforts to achieve full environmental sustainability, the University of Baghdad celebrated the honoring of 18 winners of its teaching and students, in the environmental sustainability competition on campus, in which (177) students and employees of the university participated.

The competition aims to select the best (innovative project, best scientific research, and best sustainability program) by presenting a set of environmental projects that promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable initiatives among students and faculty members.

The competition included six main themes, namely the work environment and green spaces of the university, energy, and climate change, waste management, optimal use of water, transportation on campus, education, and scientific research in the field of environmental sustainability.

The honoring ceremony was held during the session of the Council of the University of Baghdad, in the presence of the deans of the colleges of the university, professors, and researchers at the university, where the winning projects and participants in the competition were praised.

The President of the University of Baghdad stressed that this competition comes within the vision of the university to be a leading academic institution in the field of environmental sustainability, pointing out that the winning projects represent inspiring models that can be applied on and off campus.

This honor comes within the framework of the University of Baghdad’s support for scientific innovation and encouraging the provision of quality research that contributes to finding practical solutions to environmental and economic problems and enhances the role of the University of Baghdad in achieving sustainable development goals.
