The Department of Environmental Engineering at the College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Career Development and Employment Unit, organized a workshop titled “Climate Forecasting and Climate Phenomena Indicators in the Arab Region.” The session was supervised by Prof.Dr. Iyad Abdul Hamza Faisal and presented by Assist.Prof.Dr. Haider Mohammed Abdul-Hamid.

The event aimed to explore the climate challenges facing the Arab region and raise awareness about the importance of implementing practical measures to mitigate their impacts. It emphasized sustainable strategies for managing natural resources while addressing extreme climate changes in the Arab world, such as reduced rainfall, increased dust and sandstorms, land degradation, and rising temperatures. The discussion also covered the consequences of these phenomena on water and agricultural resources in Iraq, alongside engineering solutions to minimize their effects.

The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, including adopting sustainable water consumption methods, preserving soil quality, and enhancing environmental awareness in local communities.
