The University of Baghdad hosted an academic delegation from Gaziantep University of Science and Technology in Turkey, headed by the university’s president, Dr. Seemus Demir. The visit aimed to strengthen scientific relations and open new avenues for academic cooperation. The meeting was attended by Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Suhail Najim Abdullah, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, and Prof.Dr. Inas Khalifa Al-Sharqi, Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities to expand areas of cooperation. Focus was placed on several strategic areas, including student exchange programs, visiting faculty initiatives, and the “Study in Iraq” initiative. Both sides also explored plans to organize a joint scientific conference aimed at discussing current research issues and exchanging innovative ideas across various disciplines. The importance of collaboration in research exchange and enhancing communication between faculty members from both universities was emphasized, as it contributes to raising the level of scientific research on both sides.

In this context, President of Gaziantep University, expressed his eagerness to send students from Turkey to Iraq to improve their Arabic language skills and benefit from the distinguished academic expertise offered by the University of Baghdad.

The meeting concluded with praise for the strong cultural and scientific relations between Iraq and Turkey, with a reaffirmation of the importance of further developing these ties to support the goals of higher education and sustainable development.
