Prof. Dr. Munthir Mulla Kadhim, a faculty member in the Department of Russian Language at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, participated in the Ninth International Conference of Literary Translators, held by the State Institute of Translation in the Russian capital, Moscow, under the theme “Literary Translation as a Means of Cultural Diplomacy.”
During the conference sessions, Prof. Dr. Munthir Mulla Kadhim presented a research paper titled “Translations of Contemporary Russian Literature in Iraq over the Last Two Decades,” in which he addressed the state of translating Russian literature into Arabic. He reviewed the most prominent Iraqi and Arab translators, the most significant Russian literary works translated into Arabic, as well as the role of Iraqi publishing houses in disseminating Russian literature and introducing contemporary literary works to the Arab reader.
The conference brought together a number of researchers and specialists in literary translation from various countries around the world, addressing a range of issues related to literary translation and its role in enhancing cultural communication and dialogue among peoples, in addition to reviewing contemporary experiences in this field.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal Four, which calls for quality education, as well as Goal Seventeen, concerning partnerships for achieving the goals.
