Al-Shaheed Al-Hakim Hall at the University of Baghdad hosted the National University Championship for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of a number of Iraqi universities, as part of efforts to support innovation and scientific research and encourage students to develop technical projects employing robotics and artificial intelligence across various fields.
The championship, attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Moussawi, the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughaibi, senior officials of the Ministry of Higher Education, and university presidents, featured a display and competition among a number of student projects addressing diverse technical themes. The event resulted in the selection of 32 winning projects from several Iraqi universities, in recognition of the projects and ideas presented by students in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and modern technologies.
The winning projects were distributed across five tracks: Education, Industry, Community Service, Agriculture, and Environment. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research honored the teams behind the 32 winning projects, commending the efforts of the participating students and universities and the ideas and projects the teams presented in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence applications.
This activity supports several Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal Four (quality education) and Goal Nine (industry, innovation, and infrastructure), as well as Goal Seventeen (partnerships for achieving the goals).
