The University of Baghdad organized a workshop on the analysis of scientific research indicators for Iraqi universities and their impact on the results of the QS ranking of subjects for the year 2024, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Abdul Dhad, the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, the Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, assistants to university presidents for scientific affairs, deans of colleges and heads of scientific departments in Iraqi universities.

The workshop included a lecture delivered by Dr. Omar Faleh Hassan, Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the University of Baghdad, which reviewed the results of the classification and publishing statistics of Iraqi universities in the Scopus container, which was topped by the University of Baghdad, and the methodology of the University of Baghdad was presented during the past years, which led it to achieve outstanding results for 6 disciplines in the QS Ranking. The workshop included a dialogue session moderated by the media Duha Saad, during which the Undersecretary of the Ministry and the lecturer answered the attendees’ inquiries and discussed proposals and ideas to raise The quality of scientific research for Iraqi universities.

The workshop recommended the need to build a roadmap in the next phase for scientific research classified in international containers and work to train the cadres responsible for this by a central committee and cooperation with prestigious international universities. It is noteworthy that the University of Baghdad recently received a 4-star rating by the British QS Foundation to be the Iraqi university with the highest rating, as this achievement came after a full year of work effort culminating in honoring the university at the QS Higher Education Summit in the United Arab Emirates in a large ceremony attended by a large number of international universities and higher education experts in the world. This achievement is a pride for Iraq before it is credited to the University of Baghdad.
