Prof. Dr. Najat Ali Mohammed al-Tamimi, a faculty member at the department of Islamic civilization and antiquities gave a lecture at the scientific symposium held under the slogan (Memoirs of the Editor-in-Chief of Sumer Magazine), sponsored by Almeshkat Cultural Association, in cooperation with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage at the Ministry of Culture.

She at first reviewed all the names of the editors of this magazine and the methods of directing it and influenced it by political events, wars and economic crises witnessed in Iraq, referring to the most important cultural and literary figures who praised the publication of the magazine such as the poet Maruf al-Rusafi and presented to the life of the first secretary of editor Dr. Sami Khamas al-Sakkar and his role in issuing this magazine. She also made a number of recommendations that stressed the need to pay attention to the magazine, provide financial allocations to it, and provide specialized staff specialized in directing, implementing and cataloguing the research of the magazine and its production in a manner worthy of it and its scientific and cultural value, whether inside or outside Iraq, and keeping it away from the different views of supervisors and employees, because it is a magazine that concerns a wide range of intellectuals and interested in archaeological affairs, the oldest magazine and its authors since 1944 until now.
