The Maternal and Neonatal Nursing Branch, in cooperation with the Scientific Unit at the Faculty of Nursing has organized a scientific symposium entitled “The ethical framework for maternal care during pregnancy and childbirth” via Google Meet service in the presence of a number of professors and postgraduate students, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hawraa Hussein Ghafil and the lecturer Dr. Wissam Mishaan.
The lecturers addressed the most important principles of the ethics of providing nursing care to pregnant mothers and women at birth, where these principles included (charity, non-harm, justice, independence) and stressed the need to respect the rights of the woman and not to be subjected to verbal and physical violence and to be treated with charity regardless of color, religion and personal knowledge. On the other hand, D. Wissam Mishaan called for respecting the patient’s rights and her participation in the decision concerning her fetus and informing her of all the options available from providing treatment or choosing the most appropriate for her by discussing and informing her about all matters related to her health condition.
