The Department of Biology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the Faculty of Science has organized the lecture on “Keto Diet” in the presence of a number of students, professors and specialists in food nutrition.

The aim of the lecture was to identify keto diet and its therapeutic uses and side effects, as a low diet of carbohydrates and high fat, and depend on eating carbohydrates, and replace fats, which makes the body effective in burning fat, for energy, as well as its goal to introduce nutrient-rich foods that are important sources of carbohydrates, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, milk and carbohydrates, the main source of energy for the body. The lecture was presented by Dr. Sura Fouad Abdul Amir, included a thorough explanation of the diet “Keto”, a diet that converts fat into ketones in the liver, which provides energy to the brain, indicating the possibility of ketogenic diets to cause Significantly reduced sugar levels and insulin in the blood, as well as a number of other health benefits, noting that the ketogenic diet is a high-fat pattern, moderate in protein content, and very low in carbohydrates, indicating that it is contrary to most General health nutrition recommendations provide energy to the heart, kidneys, other muscles and an alternative source of energy in the brain.
