Assist. lecturer Rana Jassim al-Shammari, from the department of comparative religions at the College of Islamic Sciences has authored a book on “Raped childhood: a field study on Yazidi children who were liberated from ISIS”. The book is part of a project for documenting the genocide of Yazidis, in which the author has been exposed to topics related to the crime of recruiting children and involving them in armed conflicts, as well as introduced this serious crime that threatens international peace and security by eliminating members of the group. She then talked about ISIS’s crimes against Yazidi women from kidnapping, murder, rape, slavery, trafficking and marriage of minors, and then the abduction, recruitment and many diamonds that occurred to Yazidi children. She added that this topic has occupied the most important area of the book, after which the author was exposed to the section of the systematic framework of the study and its field procedures.
