The Department of Home Economics at the College of Education for Women, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, held a lecture entitled “The secret of skin and healthy food” delivered by the lecturer Ishraq Jihad Khudhair via Google Meet service.

The lecture aimed to shed light on foods beneficial to the health of the body where there are some foods known to be important to the skin in particular such as: foods rich in vitamin A in regulating the skin cycle and then expels toxins found in the skin in the form of oils and foods rich in zinc, which is one of the factors positively affecting the improvement of the skin and protecting it from external factors is naturally found zinc in both turkey meat, almonds, Brazilian walnuts, wheat and vitamin-rich foods (C and E), where vitamin C is found in oranges, lemons, grapefruit, papaya and tomattos; and vitamin E is available in sweet potatoes, nuts, olive oil, sunflower seeds, avocados, broccoli, green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage and foods rich in mineral selenium, which contain antioxidant properties, which help protect the skin from free radical damage. At the end of the lecture, the lecturer gave some recommendations that will help maintain the skin, including the use of sunscreens or creams and lotion for all exposed parts of the body, because exposure to radiation accelerate the ageing of the skin, eating healthy food, refraining from smoking, alcohol, as well as exercise and staying away from psychological stress and anxiety.
