Prof. Dr. Fikrat Majeed Hassan, a professor from the college of science for women was received at Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering to give a lecture on how university’s journals can access to sober international repositories and academic rankings. He stated during his speech that among the most important elements of access to sober databases is the selection of competent staff to manage the workflow of a journal and to build confidence and scientific reputation at the global levels, based on international standards by moving away from the style of predatory journals and evaluation of research papers according to citation indicators, in addition to its financial stability.
Dr. Fikrat Hassan also explained that the entry of any journal in Scopus requires obtaining an international number ISSN appearing in the interface of its website, along with license info and publication ethics. The editorial board’s information should be clear and transparent, stressing that the name, postal address and email of the editorial board members should be mentioned and that among the members of the editorial board there should be consultants from outside Iraq who have a distinguished scientific reputation and a good h-index.
