The continuing medical education unit at the college of medicine at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the anti-rumor department at the department of relations and media at the ministry of interior, held a workshop to discuss the psychological, physical and social impact of drugs in the presence of the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Ali Kamel al-Shalji, the Major General Ismail al-Kreiti, the director of police of Al- Rusafa District in Baghdad, and the Brigadier General Nibras Mohammed Ali the director of the anti-rumor department at the ministry of interior.

The lecturers discussed and introduced some kinds of narcotic and psychotropic substances that are originally referred medically to any psychoactive compound with numbing or paralyzing properties from the scientific, legal and legal aspects, and divided various types according to their effect, methods of production, colors, chemical composition and stages of addiction and abuse, as specialists pointed out their devastating effects on users in terms of negative mental, neurological, psychological and social consequences. The workshop also included medical interviews provided by professors specializing in public healthcare, neuropsychological, cardiovascular, esoteric and pharmacology, as well as recommending the opening up of specialized centers for the treatment of the addicted and increasing the number of clinical psychologists for these centers, the provision of therapeutic drugs in addition to working on to pass relevant necessary laws and increase awareness among young generations about this dangerous phenomenon in our community.
