Dr. Athraa Ismail Zaidan, the director of the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Baghdad, has participated in the special workshop on discussing the development of sectoral plans for forming a strategy against gender-based violence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (Erbil).

The event was set up by the Department of Women’s Empowerment, Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in the presence of the Director of the Department of Women’s Empowerment Dr. Yusra Kareem and in the presence of the head of the Department of Women’s Empowerment at the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Ahlam Shahid with the participation of a number of representative of state department in coordination and support of the United Nations Population Fund. Dr. Athraa Ismail addressed in her speech the empowerment aspect of women in education and how to reduce the phenomenon of school drop-out by developing solutions and proposals, and she also had interventions in empowering women to be director general and deputy minister and in the three presidencies and thus reduce the fight against gender-based violence and in all administrative positions.
