The University of Baghdad has organized a large celebration on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8 in the presence of the rector Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi and his assistant for administrative affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarmad al-Ansari and a number of academic figures from inside and outside the university. The rector at first delivered a speech congratulating women on their day and praising their educational and scientific role in addition the women’s support to their partners and in the development of generations since Islam had honored the women, regarding paradise under her feet, asserting that women became decision makers and active partners in implementation of various scientific and social outputs.
On this occasion, Dr. Munir al-Saadi dedicated flowers to a number of female professors, employees and students, wished them more excellence, also hinted to the role of some female public figures in Iraq whose biographies embodied bright success and ambition stories at the academic, cultural, entrepreneurship, arts and sports levels, as well as a review of successful small business projects at home made by female students. Also poems were recited regarding the leading role of women in various fields of life, in addition to the distribution of gifts and certificates of appreciation to some distinguished employees and students.
