The University of Baghdad, under the auspices of its rector Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, has organized a bike marathon held under the slogan “Yes to Sports, No to Drugs” and in cooperation with the BICDAD Sports Team, which is the largest team in the Middle East. This event witnessed the participation of students from all university’s formations, in the presence of the assistant rector for administrative affairs, as well as a number of deans of the university’s faculties, graduate institutes and research centers.
In his speech, Dr. Munir al-Saadi pointed out that the university is free of drug abuse that is a scourge alien to our Iraqi community, adding that addiction became currently one of the biggest problems suffered by countries that strive to fight because of its serious damage to the health, social, economic and security aspects of life. The marathon included the participation of (500) professional racing cyclists who entered the University of Baghdad amid the cheers of a large crowd of undergraduate students, where the events of this good day were concluded with dedicating the university’s shield to the BICDAD Team by the rector.
