A delegation of professors from the department of economics have participated in a workshop organized by the Government Coordination Department at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in the presence of a group of economists and general managers from the related ministries to discuss the priorities for the next government program (2022-2025).
The delegation consisted of Prof. Dr. Thaer al-Ani, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sabah Neima and the Assist. Prof. Dr. Hamdia Shaker. The participants discussed some of the problems of the general budget and the priorities that the next government should apply with regard to mini-programs within the general budget’s items to ensure accomplishing the economic, service and health purposes so as to reveal the shortcomings and diagnosis of waste with public money. The professors asserted that it is not reasonable to formulate or guarantee a new budget similar to the budgets that were adopted previously in relation to the values of expenditures and revenues, adding that it is very essential to targeting sustainability and sustainable development indicators and reducing the percentages of corruption manifestations in state departments.
