The college of education for pure and applied sciences (Ibn al-Haitham) at the University of Baghdad has organized an awareness dialogue symposium for the students of the college entitled (the extent of the impact of electronic rumor on the information culture in community) in cooperation with the fighting rumors unit at the department of relations and media at the ministry of interior that was delivered by the director of the fighting rumors unit the Brigadier General Nibras Mohammed Ali and the academic researcher in the field of rumors Captain Haider Hadi.
The event was opened up with a speech of the dean of the college in which he appreciated the great role played by the ministry of interior as well as all its formations in maintaining security and law in addition to spreading such fruitful culture and security awareness among people in general and young students in particular. The lecturers gave an overview on the topic of cybersecurity and the role of the ministry in spreading the security culture among citizens, as well as introducing what the rumor is and how it spreads through a number of documentaries presented in this occasion. Then they also pointed out that social media sites have become fertile ground that facilitates the dissemination of false news in any community.
