The Department of Astronomy and Space at the College of Science, in collaboration with the Scientific Care Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has organized an astronomical monitoring evening held in the holy province of Karbala, to enhance the capabilities of participants to monitor the celestial bodies in Baghdad.
The evening aimed to support the amateurs in the field of astronomical observation from different age groups, particularly young participants who had a field training practice for methods of using the telescope to monitor the moon, stars and other celestial bodies, in order to acquire practical skills and experience. The event included an interactive scientific lecture on astronomical observations delivered by Dr. Zainab Saleh, Dr. Abdullah Kamil Ahmed and Dr. Haider Riza Hussein, in which they outlined the importance of astronomical monitoring and the instruments used in this field and the most important basics of monitoring, with the practical training aspect in monitoring stars and planets in the sky of Baghdad.
