Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has received recently the Consul General of the United Kingdom in Iraq, Prof. Jim Buttery, on his first visit to the university. The rector provided a detailed explanation about the faculties of our university, its achievements and scientific disciplines, as well as the number of professors and students for morning and evening studies, pointing out that the University of Baghdad has joint cooperation with the University of Liverpool according to the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding for joint supervision and research cooperation between the two sides. Also Dr. Munir al-Saadi assured the British Consul that the university is in the process of signing an agreement with London Unihouse for providing global professional training in English.

For his part, Prof. Jim Buttery expressed the desire of the UK Embassy to establish an electronic center for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at the University of Baghdad after the fulfillment of international conditions along with local approvals, which will be available to all applicants. The two sides exchanged talks on the prior agreement to establish an E-Library of the British Consulate, which will provide a wide range of open access books and modern resources, including English newspapers, magazines and periodicals for all those interested in such fields, in addition to the inauguration of an English pavilion at the general secretariat of the central library along with the American and Indian pavilions which was something welcomed by the visiting delegation.
