The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage, in cooperation with the Directorate of Endowments of Baghdad in Al-Rusafa, has organized a scientific symposium entitled ” Al-Khasaki Mosque: its history and architecture”. The first research paper was presented by Dr. Rasha Issa Faris entitled (The historical origins of Al-Khasaki Mosque) in which she spoke about its establishment and the reasons behind its construction that includes the tomb of one of the saints, Sheikh Mohammed al-Azhari, who was one of the disciples of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani, and who died in Baghdad and was buried in this mosque.
Then a paper was delivered by Prof. Dr. Taha Sebti Ismail entitled “The scientific aspect of Al-Khasaki Mosque”, indicating that it was a school from which students of science and knowledge have graduated, where many scholars, including Sheikh Taher al-Barzanji, came to Baghdad in 1954, who taught science, sharia, jurisprudence, origins and orders, as well as he taught grammar and logic for a number of students and preachers. The last research was presented by Prof. Dr. Saadi Ibrahim al-Darraji entitled “Memorial writings at Al-Khasaki Mosque” in which he spoke about the reason for the establishment of this mosque by the Governor of Baghdad Mohammed Pasha Al- Khasaki (1067-1069 AH) after the demolition of a monastery set up by three French Capuchin Fathers in the Safavid era.
