Dr. Athraa Ismail Zidan, the director of the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Baghdad, has participated in the special workshop on discussing the development of sectoral plans for the strategy against gender-based violence in Erbil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq which was set up by the Department of Women’s Empowerment in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in the presence of the director of the Department of Women’s Empowerment Dr. Yusra Kareem and the head of the Department of Women’s Empowerment at the ministry of higher education and scientific research Dr. Ahlam Shahid with the participation of a number of ministries with the cooperation and support of the United Nations Population Fund.
The director of the center addressed the aspect of empowerment of women in education and how to reduce the phenomenon of school drop-out by developing solutions and proposals, also she had interventions in discussing how to empowering women to be director general and deputy minister in the three presidencies in Iraq and thus reduce the fight against gender-based violence as in all administrative positions.
