The Department of Biological Technologies, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science has organized a scientific symposium entitled “Health problems caused by the circadian rhythm disorders” in the presence of a number of students, professors and those concerned with this topic.
The aim of the symposium was to introduce the problems that occur when the sleep-wake cycle is not properly aligned with the environment and interferes with our daily activities since we have a biological clock that controls the timing of several activities and functions of our bodies, including when we go to sleep or wake up that all lead to changes in hormone and their critical effects on the body. The lecturers were delivered by Dr. Ali Qasim, Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein and Dr. Hanin Muayyad, who highlighted the important biological clock for human body health; its significant impact on physical health, as well as the extent of this impact on mental health, as well as the introduction of biological clock disorders caused by time difference syndrome, changing shifts of work, and late sleep syndrome that may lead to many diseases and symptoms, including short-term memory, weight gain, and diabetes.
