The college of arts at the University of Baghdad has inaugurated its international scientific conference entitled (Peacebuilding and genocide prevention), at the University of Human Development in Sulaimaniyah, in cooperation with the ministry of culture, tourism and antiquities, House of Wisdom (Bayt al-Hikma), the Martyrs Foundation, the Political Prisoners Foundation of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Koya University, Halabja University and Charmo University.

The dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Sabbar Aboud, explained during his speech that the conference discussed (27) specialized researches, in the field of ideologies and genocide, manifestations of genocide and mass graves in Iraq, the influence of humanities, laws, constitutions, curricula and education in the upbringing of the new generation, as well as promoting peace-building and transforming conflict according to the philosophy of recognition and its cultural foundations, dialogue, pluralism and tolerance. On the other hand, the President of the UNESCO Chair, Professor Dr. Salah Fleifel Ayed Al-Jabri, stated that this conference sends a message of mutual recognition of the tragedy committed by the dictatorial regime against the Iraqi people from north to south, as well as urging that psychological participants are mixed with historical, cultural, economic, political and social participants, as the issue of coexistence and peace between religious, sectarian and national components is central, because of its impact on the service of society, cohesion and belonging to a civilized identity.
