Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad, has opened up a seismic monitoring and spatial data analysis laboratory at the department of remote sensing and seismic monitoring in the presence of the dean of the college, heads of departments and a number of faculty members.

Dr. Najah Abdul Hassan from the aforementioned department in this event asserting that a new instrument was used so that earthquakes can be recorded by a seismographic network in seven places in different provinces of Iraq in order to estimate and analyze data monthly by a team specialized in this regard. On the sidelines of this event, the rector kept abreast with an exhibition of astronomical outputs including an astronomical dome and the latest scientific products for research and a number of perfect celestial body pictures taken with modern equipment and telescopes.
